NetMeeting Setup Appears to Finish When You Click Cancel (176492)

SYMPTOMS

If you click Cancel while NetMeeting Setup is copying files, one of the following symptoms may occur:

  • You receive the following error message:
    Error registering the OCX c:\windows\system\xmsconf.ocx
    When you click OK, you receive the following message:

    Microsoft NetMeeting has been installed successfully.

  • You receive the following message:

    Microsoft NetMeeting has been installed successfully.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, reinstall NetMeeting and allow Setup to finish.

If you are installing NetMeeting for the first time and Internet Explorer 3.x or later is not installed on your computer, you receive the first error message when you click Cancel. NetMeeting does not appear on the Start menu.

If you are upgrading over an earlier version of NetMeeting, you receive the second message when you click Cancel. NetMeeting appears on the Start menu, but it does not start when you attempt to start it.
