WD97: Next Page Section Break Changes to Odd (176470)

SYMPTOMS

When you enter a next page section break and change the subsequent paper orientation (portrait to landscape or landscape to portrait), the next page section break may turn into an odd page section break.

CAUSE

When you change paper orientation, the Section Start (on the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Layout tab) is set to Odd Page.

RESOLUTION

To resolve the problem described in this article, obtain and install the latest Microsoft Word 97 update from the following Microsoft Web site: IMPORTANT NOTE: Microsoft Word 97 post-service release fixes are cumulative. The latest update contains all of the fixes since Service Release 2. If you install the latest update for Word 97, you do not need to install any other updates after Service Release 2.

WORKAROUND

Before you change the orientation, click the Layout tab and change the Section Start back to New page. The orientation can then be changed without enforcing an odd page break.
