PivotTable Report Is Created on New Worksheet Despite Setting in Wizard (176450)

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new PivotTable report in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Excel creates the report in a new worksheet even though you specify an existing worksheet.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you specify that you want the PivotTable report to be created in an existing sheet in step 4 of the PivotTable Wizard but you do not specify the range from which to begin creating the PivotTable report.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, supply the range at which to begin creating the PivotTable report in step 4 of the PivotTable Wizard.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
