This article was previously published under Q176424 SYMPTOMS
After you install the Task Scheduler component, scheduled tasks may appear
in the Scheduled Tasks folder.
CAUSE
When you install the Task Scheduler component, tasks that you previously
scheduled using the AT command are copied to the Scheduled Tasks folder,
even if the Schedule service is disabled.
RESOLUTION
If the Scheduled Tasks folder contains tasks that you do not want to run
on a regular basis, disable or remove the tasks, or disable Task
Scheduler.
To disable a task in the Scheduled Tasks folder, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools,
and then click Scheduled Tasks.
- Right-click the task you want to disable, and then click Properties.
- On the Task tab, click the "Enabled (scheduled task runs at specified
time)" check box to clear it, and then click OK.
- On the File menu, click Close.
To remove a task from the Scheduled Tasks folder, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools,
and then click Scheduled Tasks.
- Right-click the task you want to remove, click Delete, and then
click Yes.
- On the File menu, click Close.
To disable Task Scheduler, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools,
and then click Scheduled Tasks.
- On the Advanced menu, click Stop Using Task Scheduler.
- On the File menu, click Close.
NOTE: Stopping the Task Scheduler service disables adding new tasks with
the AT command. Stopping the Task Scheduler service does not prevent
scheduled tasks from starting or prevent you from adding new scheduled
tasks using Task Scheduler.
