PRJ: Blank Assignment Fields Sort Equal to Zero and No Values (176290)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Project 2000
  • Microsoft Project 98 for Windows

This article was previously published under Q176290

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you attempt to sort assignment fields in Resource Usage view or Task Usage view, a field that does not have a value will not be separated from the fields that have values of Zero or No. All of these results will be grouped together.

NOTE: Zero is a valid value for numeric fields; No is a valid value for a Flag field.

CAUSE

Microsoft Project treats Zero, No, and blank cells as equivalent values.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
