SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, the top and left positions of the UserForm (custom dialog box) change when you select a range of cells using a RefEdit control.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you create a UserForm that has a RefEdit control and then do one of the following:

  • You select a range of cells using the RefEdit control. -or-

  • You click the button of the RefEdit control.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

A RefEdit control is similar in behavior and appearance to an Edit Box control with an InputType property that you set to xlReference. (The Edit Box control is available in Excel 5.0 on the Forms toolbar in dialog sheets.) The RefEdit control differs from an Edit Box control in that the RefEdit control contains a button that allows you to collapse the UserForm to easily select a cell range.
