The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Project 98 for Windows

This article was previously published under Q175465

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, if you have an assignment that has zero work or zero units, you will not be able to set the Start Date or the Finish Date for the assignment.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:

  1. On the View menu, click Gantt Chart. (Or, on the View menu, click More Views. In the More Views dialog box, click Task Sheet and then click OK).
  2. On the Window menu, click Split.

The Task Form view will appear in the bottom pane.
  3. Click anywhere in the Task Form.
  4. On the Format menu, point to Details, and then click Resource Schedule.

The Delay and Leveling Delay columns will appear in the Task Form. To move the assignment to a date that occurs after the task start date, type a value in either the Delay or the Leveling Delay column.

NOTE: If you change the Start Date or the Finish Date, both Leveling Delay and Delay will be removed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
