SYMPTOMS

When you right-click an Active Server Pages (ASP) file that is open in the Microsoft Visual InterDev editor and then click Preview Pagename.asp, the File Download dialog box appears, and the ASP file opens in the Microsoft FrontPage (Visual InterDev Edition) editor, instead of previewing in the browser.

Note This behavior does not occur when you right-click the file in the Workspace pane, and then click Preview in Browser.

CAUSE

The conditions that cause this error to occur are as follows:
  • Internet Explorer 4.0 or 5.0 is installed on the client computer.
  • The Preview Pagename.asp menu item is used from the ASP editor to view the ASP page.

RESOLUTION

There is no workaround at this time.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Open or create a new project in VID.
  2. Open or create a new ASP file.
  3. Save the file.
  4. In the editor, right-click the file, and then click Preview Pagename.asp, where Pagename is the name of your file.
