FIX: Cannot Set Permissions Back to Root Web Permissions (175252)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Visual InterDev 1.0
This article was previously published under Q175252 SYMPTOMS
Using the Web Permissions dialog box to reset the permissions to the same
as the root Web will have no effect on the permission settings for the Web.
In other words, if you select the Web Permission item on the Project menu
and then select "Use unique permissions for this," you will not be able to
use the dialog box to change the unique permissions back to match the root
Web. If you select the option "Use Same Permissions as Root Web" in the Web
Permission dialog box and click OK, nothing will happen.
RESOLUTION
To grant the same permissions as the root Web to your project, use the Copy
Web command on the Project menu to copy the content of your Web to a new
project on the same server. This copies your content and sets your
permissions to be the same as the root Web.
Alternatively, if you have Microsoft FrontPage version 2.0 or later installed, you
can open the Web project in Microsoft FrontPage and use the Permissions
item on the Tools menu to launch the permissions dialog box. Select the
option "Use Same Permissions as Root Web" and click Apply. Then click OK to
close the dialog box.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article. This bug has been fixed in Visual
InterDev 6.0.
