Ieremove.exe may not remove Internet Explorer 4.0 (174590)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to uninstall Internet Explorer 4.0 using the Ieremove.exe program, Ieremove.exe may not remove Internet Explorer. When this occurs, you receive no error message.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if Internet Explorer 4.0 has been installed into a different folder than a previously uninstalled version. The Uninstall Information folder may have been placed in the earlier Internet Explorer 4.0 installation folder.

RESOLUTION

Modify the command line you are using for Ieremove.exe to use the appropriate folder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer 4.0.
