The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q174358 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, if you delete a resource in Resource Usage view,
You may receive one of the following error messages.
Windows 95
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the Problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive an error message similar to this:
WINPROJ caused an invalid page fault in module WINPROJ.EXE at <address>.
Windows NT
An Application Error has occurred and an application error log is
being generated.
Winproj.exe
Exception access Violation (oxc0000005), Address:<address>
CAUSE
These errors occur if you delete a resource in Resource Usage view when baseline work has been assigned to the resource and baseline cost has not been calculated for the resource.
For example, these errors occur in the following situations:
- You delete a resource in Resource Usage view where the resource is
manually assigned timephased baseline work but you do not assign
timephased baseline cost.
- You close and reopen a file in which a baseline has been saved, and
then you delete the resource in Resource Usage view when Baseline
Cost detail is not shown.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do not delete a resource from the Resource
Usage view if baseline work has been assigned to a resource. Instead,
delete the resource from the Resource Sheet view.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service
Release 1 (SR-1).
