Money: Cannot Sort by Date in the Tax Report (174112)

SUMMARY

When you create a report for Tax Related Transactions, Microsoft Money generates a report that can be subtotaled by Category, Subcategory, or Category Types, but that report cannot subtotal or sort by date.

You can customize the Account Transaction report to show Tax Categories and sort them by date.

To do this, use the appropriate method for your version of Money.

Money 2003

To create this custom report, follow these steps:
  1. On the navigation bar, click Reports, and then click Reports Gallery.
  2. In the left pane, click Spending By Payee.
  3. Click Go To Report/chart.
  4. If you are looking at a chart, in the left pane, click Customize.
  5. On the Account tab, click Select All to include all accounts in the report.
  6. On the Category tab, click Select Tax Categories.
  7. On the Rows and Columns tab, click Weeks, Months, or None in the Subtotal By list.

    Note If you click None, the transactions are sorted by date, but they are not subtotaled.
  8. Click Apply, and then click OK.

Money 2002

To create this custom report, follow these steps:
  1. On the navigation bar, click Reports, and then click Reports Gallery.
  2. In the left pane, click Spending By Payee.

  7. On the Rows and Columns tab, click Weeks, Months, or None in the Subtotal By list.

    Note If you click None, the transactions are sorted by date, but they are not subtotaled.
  8. Click Apply, and then click OK.
You should be able to see all of the tax-related transactions sorted by date.

Money 2000

To create this custom report, follow these steps:
  1. On the navigation bar, click Reports.
  2. Click Spending Habits in the left pane, click Account Transactions, and then click Go To Report/chart.
  3. If you are looking at a chart, click Report, and then click Customize.
  4. Under Include Transactions, make sure that All Accounts are in the box, and then click Select Transactions.
  5. On the Categories tab, click to select Tax Categories, and then click OK.
  6. In the Subtotal By list, click Weeks, Months, or None.

    Note If you click None, the transactions are sorted by date, but they are not subtotaled.
  7. Click Apply, and then click View.
You should be able to see all of the tax-related transactions sorted by date.
