PRJ: BCWP for Resource Assignment Different from BCWP for Task (172783)

SYMPTOMS

The Budgeted Cost of Work Performed (BCWP) for a resource assignment does not match the BCWP for a task if the resource uses multiple cost rates.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when a resource has multiple cost rates. In this case, an average of the cost rates will be used to calculate BCWP rather than individual cost rates. This will cause the values of the BCWP of the resource assignment to differ from the BCWP task for the task.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
