SUMMARY

In Microsoft Publisher 97, you can mirror (flip) an object or text so that you can transfer the image or text to a T-shirt. This article provides two methods you can use to transfer an image or text.

NOTE: The steps assume you have Microsoft Draw 1.01 and Microsoft WordArt 3.0 installed on your computer.

The Flip Horizontal feature is unavailable for raster graphics in Microsoft Publisher. The feature is only available for objects created in Microsoft Publisher, such as oval, box, and custom shapes.

Method 1: Use Microsoft Draw to Flip Images Horizontally

To use Microsoft Draw to flip images horizontally, follow these steps:
  1. Select the clip art object.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  3. On the Insert menu, click Object.
  4. In the Insert Object dialog box, click Create New, select Microsoft Drawing 1.01 in the Object Type list, and then click OK.
  5. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  6. On the Draw menu, click Group, if it is available. Otherwise, go to step 7.
  7. On the Draw menu, click Flip Horizontal.
  8. On the File menu, click Exit And Return. If you are prompted to save the changes, click Yes.
You now have a flipped clip art image.

Method 2: Use Microsoft WordArt to Flip Text Horizontally

To use Microsoft WordArt to flip text horizontally, follow these steps:
  1. On the Insert menu, click Object.
  2. In the Insert Object dialog box, click Create New, click Microsoft WordArt 3.0, and then click OK.
  3. Type the text you want in the "Enter Your Text Here" box.
  4. Select the text, and then click Cut on the Edit menu.
  5. Click anywhere in the document area.
  6. On the Insert menu, click Object.
  7. In the Insert Object dialog box, click Create New, select Microsoft Drawing 1.01 in the Object Type list, and then click OK.
  8. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  9. On the Draw menu, click Group, if it is available. Otherwise, go to step 10.
  10. On the Draw menu, click Flip Horizontal.
  11. On the File menu, click Exit And Return. If you are prompted to save the changes, click Yes.
You now have a flipped text image.

For bitmap images, such as photos, use a bitmap editing program like Microsoft Paint, Corel Photo Paint, Microsoft Photo Editor, Microsoft Imager, or Adobe Photoshop. For information about how to flip the image in any of these programs, refer to the program documentation or Help.
