FIX: Merging Keywords for Search Requires Admin Privileges (171847)

The first time you search the online docs after installing the product or
new online content, InfoViewer will perform "Merging Keywords." If you do
not have administrator privileges, the information from merging keywords
will not be saved and InfoViewer will have to perform this step each time
you start MSDN or Developer Studio and then do a search.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article. This bug has been fixed in Visual Studio
97 Service Pack 2.
