This article was previously published under Q171697 SYMPTOMS
When you are installing Internet Explorer, your computer may stop
responding (hang) after the first reboot.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if CD-QuickShare is installed on the computer. When
the Internet Explorer installation program tries to finalize settings
after the first reboot, the CD-QuickShare drivers that load from the
Config.sys and Autoexec.bat files cause the computer to hang.
RESOLUTION
To finish installing Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
- Restart the computer. When you see the "Starting Windows 95" message,
press the F8 key, and then choose Step-By-Step Confirmation from the
Startup menu.
- Press Y at each prompt except for the "Process your startup device
drivers (Config.sys)" and "Process your startup command file
(Autoexec.bat)" prompts.
- Allow the Internet Explorer installation process to proceed normally.
After Internet Explorer is installed, it should function properly.
