XL97: Error Message Appears Setting Zoom Below 50% (170792)

When you attempt to zoom to view a worksheet, an error message similar to
the following may appear.
Microsoft Windows 95
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be
shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
Excel caused an invalid page fault in module Excel.exe at
0137:3002acd3
Microsoft Windows NT
Dr. Watson for Windows NT
An application error has occurred and an application error log is
being generated.
Excel.exe
Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address 0x3002ad7a
CAUSE
This problem may occur when you do the following:
- You open a file that was created in an earlier version of Microsoft
Excel.
-and-
- This file contains cells formatted with colored patterns.
-and-
- You attempt to zoom the worksheet by using a setting below 50 percent.
The Spreadsheet Solutions template for Microsoft Excel 7.0 (Timecard.xlt)
has been found to cause this behavior.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
