PRB: Search.htm Shows Older Documents That Are Now Invalid (170766)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Visual InterDev 1.0
- Microsoft Visual InterDev 6.0
This article was previously published under Q170766 SYMPTOMS
When using the Search.htm file to search a Web site, documents that have
been removed are shown in the result set.
CAUSE
The FrontPage search WebBot caches the information on the Web site for
performance reasons.
RESOLUTION
To refresh the data used by the search engine, in Visual InterDev, right-
click the project file and select Recalculate Links in the Shortcut menu.
NOTE: If Recalculate Links fails to update the list, the files that contain
the search information can be deleted, and Recalulate Links will re-create
the files. On the Web server, delete the "all*.*" files located in the
projects Vti_txt\Default.wti directory. Also delete the "*.btr" files
located in the Vti_pvt folder. Click Recalculate Links to rebuild the
files.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
