MCIS: Membership Web Sites Return HTTP://501 Error (170314)

SYMPTOMS

Users may receive one of the following errors when using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.01 on certain Membership (DPA) Enabled Web Sites:
HTTP:// 501 error
-or-

Content_Length does Not have a value
The error occurs when submitting a form that uses the Post command instead of the Get command.

RESOLUTION

This is a known problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01 and MCIS Membership Systems that has been fixed in Internet Explorer 3.02. Microsoft recommends that users upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer when they visit Membership protected Web sites.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System, version 1.0.
