SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, if you open the Global.mpt file from Microsoft Project 4.1 or 4.1a, you will only be able to copy views between the global templates; you will not be able to copy views from a global template to another open file.

RESOLUTION

To copy a view to a Microsoft Project 98 file, use these steps:

  1. Open the Microsoft Project version 4.1 global.mpt file.
  2. On the View menu, click More Views.
  3. In the More Views dialog box, click Organizer, and then click the Views tab.
  4. Select the view you want to copy to the Microsoft Project 98 file, and then click Copy.
  5. Click Close.
  6. Close the Microsoft Project 95 global.mpt file.
  7. Open the file you want to copy the views into.
  8. On the View menu, click More Views.
  9. In the More Views dialog box, click Organizer, and then click the Views tab.
  10. Select the views you want to transfer to the Microsoft Project 98 file, and then click Copy.
  11. Click Close.
The views will now be available in the new Microsoft Project 98 file. Keep in mind that if any views in the Microsoft Project 95 global.mpt file have the same name as those in the Microsoft Project 98 they will be overwritten.
