PPT97: Pattern Filled Lines or Objects Print Incorrectly (169994)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q169994 SYMPTOMS
If you format a line or object with a pattern fill, the line or object may
print as solid black. If you view the slide in Black And White view, the
line or object displays as a solid black fill. However, if you view the
slide in a Slide Show, the line or object is displayed correctly.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if you selected the Black & White check box in the
Print dialog box before you printed the presentation.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem and print the object correctly, use either of the
following methods.
Method 1: Change the Object's Black and White Behavior
Use this method if your slide is one that would normally not print well in
black and white (for example, it may have a dark gradient background and
small, light-colored text.)
- On the View menu, click Black And White.
- Right-click the object you want to change. Point to Black And White on
the menu that appears, and then click the effect you want to use, such
as Grayscale, Inverse Grayscale, or Light Grayscale.
The object no longer appears black and prints correctly, even if the Black
& White check box in the Print dialog box is selected.
Method 2: Do Not Print with the Black & White Option Selected
Use this method if your slide is one that would normally print well to a
black and white printer (for example, it has a plain, light-colored
background and dark text and graphics).
- On the File menu, click Print.
- Click to clear the Black & White check box.
- Change any other print settings you want, and then click OK.
