The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows CE for the Handheld PC, Versions 1.0
This article was previously published under Q169946 SYMPTOMS
When you run your Handheld PC (H/PC) on battery power, you may notice a
significant reduction in the amount of time you are able to use the H/PC
before the batteries become drained.
CAUSE
This behavior can be caused by either of the following situations:
- You have left a PC Card in the H/PC after switching from an external
(AC) power source.
- Your NiCad rechargeable batteries have lost the ability to hold a
complete charge.
RESOLUTION
Remove the PC Card before switching from the AC power source to battery
power. Or, replace the NiCad batteries and follow your battery
manufacturer's instructions to maximize battery life.
MORE INFORMATION
Most PC Cards consume considerable battery power. When you are using a
PC Card in your H/PC, we recommend that you use an external power supply
whenever possible.
