If you did not install the Web Page Authoring (HTML) component when you installed PowerPoint 97 (it is not installed by default) then this this behavior occurs. Also, if one or more of the files or registry settings necessary for saving as HTML are damaged, this behavior can occur.
RESOLUTIONMake Sure Web Page Authoring is Installed
To install the Web Page Authoring (HTML) component, use the following
steps:
- Quit all applications.
- On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- In the list of programs, click Microsoft Office 97 or Microsoft
PowerPoint 97, and then click Add/Remove.
- In the Office 97 or PowerPoint 97 Setup dialog box, click Add/Remove.
- Click to select the Web Page Authoring (HTML) check box.
- Click Continue and follow the instructions on your screen.
You should now be able to save PowerPoint presentations as HTML. If you are still having a problem, proceed to the second step.
