This article was previously published under Q169868 SYMPTOMS
When you open a WordPerfect 5.x or 6.x document in any of the versions of
Microsoft Word listed at the beginning of this article, Word applies
underline formatting to text which was formatted as redlined in
WordPerfect, and vertical bars appear in the margin area.
CAUSE
By design, text formatted as redline in WordPerfect documents is converted
to inserted text revision marking in Word. When the default settings are
used for revision marking in Word, inserted text is marked with a single
underline and a color. A vertical bar appears in the margin to indicate
that a revision has been made.
WORKAROUND
Since these marks are revision marks, to remove the underlining and
vertical marks, follow these steps:
Word 6.x, 7.x- On the Tools menu, click Revisions.
- Click Accept All and then click Yes to confirm you are accepting all
changes.
- Click Close on the Revisions dialog box.
Word 97 and Word 98 Macintosh Edition- On the Tools menu, point to Track Changes and click "Accept or Reject
Changes."
- Click Accept All and click Yes to confirm you are accepting all changes.
- Click Close on the Accept or Reject Changes dialog box.
