OFF97: Dr. Watson Error with Rotated Text in Embedded Workbook (169718)

If you create an embedded Microsoft Excel workbook in a Microsoft Word
document or in a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, you may receive the
following error message
Not enough memory
and then you receive the following Dr. Watson for Windows NT error message:
An application error has occurred and an application error log is
being generated.
Excel.exe
Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address 0x3015c3ed
After you click OK, Microsoft Excel quits, Microsoft Word or Microsoft
PowerPoint becomes unstable, and you must quit the program.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if all of the following conditions are true:
- You are using Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0.
-and-
- You rotate the text in a cell.
-and-
- You apply cell borders to the cell with the rotated text.
-and-
- The Microsoft Excel workbook is embedded in either a Microsoft Word
document or a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, eliminate or minimize rotated text in a
Microsoft Excel workbook that is embedded in a Microsoft Word document or
in a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
