This article was previously published under Q169531 SYMPTOMS
When you check spelling in a Microsoft Word 95 (7.0) document, the "The
spelling check is complete" message may be complete even though no spelling
errors in the document were found or corrected.
In addition, if automatic spell checking is selected, misspelled words will
not be flagged.
NOTE: Text formatted in Allcaps may not be checked if the option is
selected.
CAUSE
The Find Fast Indexing program that ships with Office 95 is not functioning
properly and is interfering with the proofing tools.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, you must disable the Find Fast Indexer. To disable
Find Fast, you must delete the Find Fast index files. To do this, use the
following steps:
- On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel window, double-click Find Fast.
- In the "Index for documents in and below" list, click the first item.
- On the Index menu, click Delete Index. In the Delete Index dialog box,
click OK. When you are prompted whether to delete the index, click OK.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 until no more indices are listed.
- On the Index menu, click Close And Stop. Click OK to stop Find Fast.
- Then, do either of the following:
- Remove the Microsoft Find Fast shortcut from the StartUp folder

- Run the Microsoft Office 95 Setup program in maintenance mode, and
remove Find Fast.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with Find Fast Indexer version
1.0 for Windows 95. We are researching this problem and will post new
information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATION
Find Fast builds indexes to speed up finding documents from any Microsoft
application. Find Fast indexes the contents of all documents on the local
drives, and then automatically updates these indexes while you work. You
can create additional indexes or delete or update existing indexes using
