SBFM97: Beginning Balances in Report Are Incorrect (169400)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q169400 SYMPTOMS
In a Trial Balance report, when you drill down for detail about an asset or
liability account, the beginning balance figures do not match the beginning
balances for the accounting data.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs only for the beginning balance figures. Note that the
Trial Balance uses the Net Change column to reflect the true balance for
that period.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION
In the Microsoft Small Business Financial Manager 97 for Microsoft Excel 97
you can generate various reports by using the Report Wizard. In a report,
when you double-click a cell that contains a balance for a particular
account, a new worksheet is generated. Detailed accounting data for that
account is listed including beginning balances and net change amounts. The
beginning balances may not match accounting data. However, the net change
amount for that period is correct.
