XL97: Cell Displays Zero with Angled Text and Small Row Height (169253)

When changing the height of a row in Microsoft Excel, any cell in the row
displays a zero instead of its proper contents.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- You format the cell to use text that is angled in a range between -41
and +41 degrees orientation.
-and-
- You recently decreased the height of the row that contains the cell in
question.
-and-
- The number format of the cell is the General format.
WORKAROUND
If you apply a number format to the cell in question, the problem no
longer occurs. To do this, use the following steps:
- Select the cell with the angled text. On the Format menu, click Cells.
- In the Format Cells dialog box, click the Number tab. Select the
category and number format that you want to display. Click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at
the beginning of this article.
