XL97: Error Rolling Wheel on Mouse While Editing Formula (168757)

When you roll the wheel on a Microsoft IntelliMouse while using Microsoft
Excel 97, you may receive the following error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive an error message similar to the
following:
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in module MSO97.DLL at
0137:307333ca.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- The worksheet you are currently editing (Sheet1, for example) contains
a split or frozen panes.
-and-
- While you are editing a formula in Sheet1, you activate another
workbook or another worksheet, and then scroll up or down by rolling
the wheel on the Microsoft IntelliMouse.
RESOLUTION
To prevent this problem from occurring, do not roll the wheel on the
Microsoft IntelliMouse when you are editing a formula in a workbook whose
window contains a split or frozen panes.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem no longer occurs in
Microsoft Excel 2000.
