OFF97: Registry Keys Remain After RFS Upgrade from Office 7.0 (168517)

SYMPTOMS
When you run Microsoft Office 97 Setup, and then click Yes to remove an
earlier version of Microsoft Office, Setup fails to remove all of the
Microsoft Windows registry keys from the earlier version of Office.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
- You perform a "Run from Network Server" installation to upgrade
Microsoft Office 7.0.
-and- - Shared tools (Msapps folder) are on the network server not on the local
hard disk.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. REFERENCES
