OL97: Text On a Weekly Calendar May Print Incorrectly (168346)

SYMPTOMS

When printing a daily or weekly calendar arranged left to right, the text for an appointment may extend incorrectly beyond the area it is supposed to be confined to.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when using Outlook with specific printer drivers. This is most apparent on older HP LaserJet models such as the IIP ,III, and IIISi. Newer HP LaserJet models such as the 4MV, 4Si, and 5MP do not appear to have this problem.

RESOLUTION

Use a different printer, an updated printer driver, or both.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. In the Calendar, enter an appointment from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. with the text "This is appointment one."
  2. Enter a second appointment from 10:30 A.M. - 11:30 A.M. with "This is appointment two."
  3. On the File menu, click Print.
  4. For Print style, select Weekly Style.
  5. Click Page Setup and on the Format tab click to select "Left to right."
  6. Click OK, then OK again to print.
The resulting text extends beyond the defined area.
