OFF97: Error in OSB When You Close Windows Explorer Window (168202)

When you close a Microsoft Windows Explorer window in Microsoft Windows 95,
you may receive the following error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive the following error message
MSOFFICE caused a general protection fault in module USER.EXE at
0003:00000f6e.
and the Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar closes.
CAUSE
This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
- You click the control menu in the upper-left corner of the Office
Shortcut Bar.
-and-
- While the control menu is still displayed, you click the Close button
(the "X") in the upper-right corner of the window in Windows Explorer.
RESOLUTION
To prevent this problem from occurring, do not close Windows Explorer when
the control menu for the Office Shortcut Bar is visible.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
MORE INFORMATION
Note that this problem does not occur on computers that are running
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.
