The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q168126 SYMPTOMS
If you open a publication created in either Microsoft Publisher,
version 2.0, or in Microsoft Publisher for Windows 95, version 3.0, in
Microsoft Publisher 97, and that publication contains a text style
named "[Web body]," you may receive errors or see unusual behavior
when you attempt to change the [Web body] style. For example, if you
click Text Style on the Format menu, click the [Web body] style, and
then click the Change This Style button, you receive the following
error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut
down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click the Details button, you receive the following message:
MSPUB caused an invalid page fault in module MSPUB.EXE at
0137:00457a29.
In addition, if you try to apply the [Web body] style to text that
already follows that style, Publisher displays the Create Style By
Example dialog box instead of simply applying the style.
WORKAROUND
You can prevent this error from occurring by doing the following:
- Open the presentation.
- Click inside a paragraph that uses the [Web body] text style.
- Click [Web body] in the Styles list on the Formatting toolbar.
The Create Style By Example dialog box appears.
- Click OK.
When you click the Styles list, [Web body] is now listed twice.
However, if you click Text Styles on the Format menu, and modify
either instance of the [Web body] style, all of the text that follows
either instance of that style change, you will not receive the error
message described in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
