OL97: Views Differ Between Task Folder and TaskPad (168099)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q168099 SYMPTOMS
Changes made to views of tasks in the Task folder do not affect views of
tasks in the TaskPad of the Calendar folder. Furthermore, filters applied
to views of tasks in the Task folder do not apply to tasks in the TaskPad.
CAUSE
This behavior is by design. Views of tasks in the Task folder are
independent of views of tasks in the Calendar TaskPad. This allows
for different views of task data depending on the available display area.
MORE INFORMATION
In the Task folder, you can change existing views, add new selectable
views, or define filters to limit the records displayed. In the TaskPad of
the Calendar folder, you can select predefined views and change the
attributes of an existing view, but you cannot add a new view.
View Control in the Task Folder
To change an existing view in the Task folder, click Format View on the
View menu. This allows you to change certain visual aspects of the current
view, such as grouping, sorting, fonts and other formatting.
To add a new view to the Task folder, click Define Views on the View menu.
This allows you to define and save a new view that is selectable.
To filter task records to control those displayed, click Filter on the View
menu. This allows you to control records displayed based upon content
attributes.
View Control in the Calendar TaskPad
To change the current view of the TaskPad, point to TaskPad Settings on the
View menu and click Format View. This allows you to change certain visual
aspects of the current view, such as fonts used and other formatting
attributes.
To make more significant changes to the current view, right-click the
TaskPad header and click View Summary on the shortcut menu. You can save
these changes but you cannot define a new view.
To filter task records to control those displayed in the TaskPad, click
TaskPad View on the View menu. This allows you to pick one of seven pre-
defined filters.
