This article was previously published under Q167771 SYMPTOMS
When you participate in a chat conference with Microsoft Chat using Comic
Strip view, you do not receive arrival or departure messages when a chat
member enters or leaves the chat room.
STATUS
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here
in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATION
Microsoft Chat sends arrival and departure messages to everyone in the
chat room when a chat member enters or leaves the chat room. For example,
when chat a member enters the room you receive a message that "<Chat
member> has joined the conversation." When a member leaves the room you
receive a message that "<Chat member> has left the conversation." You
receive these messages only in Plain Text view, not in Comic Strip view.
To enable arrival and departure messages in Plain Text view, click
Options on the View menu, click the Settings tab, and then click the Show
Arrivals/Departures check box to select it. Arrival and departure
messages are enabled by default.
