This article was previously published under Q167389 SYMPTOMS
When you enter a chat room with the Automatic Greeting option enabled in
Microsoft Chat, the wrong character is displayed for the host in the first
comic strip pane (the Greeting pane). The host's character is displayed
correctly in the Member pane and in subsequent comic strip panes.
STATUS
Microsoft is aware of this situation and will post more information here
in the Microsoft Knowledge Base when it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATION
The host of a chat room can enable the Automatic Greeting option by
clicking Options on the View menu, clicking the Automation tab, and then
clicking either Whispered or Said. If Whispered is selected, only the new
member of the chat room sees the host's greeting. If Said is selected,
every member of the chat room sees the host's greeting.
When the Automatic Greeting option is enabled, Microsoft Chat
automatically sends a greeting from the host to any member who enters the
room after the host. When this greeting is sent, the host's character is
not displayed properly in the Greeting pane. For example, if the host's
character is Anna, the new chat room member might see the host as Armando
in the Greeting pane. When the next comic strip pane appears, the correct
character is displayed for the host. This occurs only in the Greeting
pane.
