Money: Primary Access Number for VISA Partner Institutions (166650)

SUMMARY

Microsoft Money 98 and 5.0 uses one of two toll-free phone numbers to access VISA InterActive (VISA), a service provider for Home Banking.

On installation, Money uses (800) 618-6710 to connect to VISA InterActive to set up your online accounts. During this call, the telephone number is changed to the primary access number of (800) 711-9974.

This article discusses how you can manually change the Money settings to the primary access number, if needed.

Microsoft has created a self-extracting file, Viprime.exe to edit the default settings in the registry to allow Money to use the primary access number of (800) 711-9974.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to prevent any unauthorized changes to the file. After you download the Viprime.exe file, double-click the file to extract three files.

To change the default phone number for VISA InterActive, follow these steps:

Quit Money.
Go to the location where you saved the Viprime.exe file and double-click the Viprime.reg file.

You may receive the following error message:
Cannot import C:\<folder>: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error.
where <folder> is the path up to the first space in a folder name. You will have to drag the Viprime.reg file to the desktop and double-click the file from that location.

Additional information: The registry editor cannot correctly parse a file's path if there are spaces as part of the name. Dragging the file to the desktop and double clicking from that location, or in a folder that has no spaces in the path to that folder, allows the file to be registered.
When notified the file was successfully registered, click OK.

Money now uses the primary access number to access your financial institution through VISA InterActive Center.

To restore the default settings, double-click the Videflt.reg file.
