SYMPTOMS

The shortcuts to H/PC Explorer on your desktop computer may use generic icons. When you double-click an H/PC Explorer shortcut, you may receive the following error message:

The item 'hpcexpl.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved. The nearest match, based on size, date, and type is 'C:\PROGRA~1\HPCEXP~1\PocketIE Setup\setup.exe'. Do you want this shortcut to point to this item?

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you run the Setup program for H/PC Explorer version 1.0 and both of the following conditions occur during the installation:

You click the H/PC Explorer check box in the Select Components dialog box to clear it.
You click to select one or more of the check boxes in the Create Shortcuts dialog box, so that the H/PC Explorer Setup program creates shortcuts to H/PC Explorer on your desktop computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, run the H/PC Explorer Setup program again and choose to install the H/PC Explorer component during setup.

MORE INFORMATION

This is problem is corrected in H/PC Explorer version 1.1. The H/PC Explorer version 1.1 Setup returns you to the Select Components dialog box if you do not select the H/PC Explorer component during installation. The Casio, Compaq, and NEC H/PCs include H/PC Explorer version 1.0, which does not include this fix.
