XL97: Macro to Tile Windows Does Not Work with Minimized Window (166450)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q166450 SYMPTOMS
When you run a macro that tiles windows of open workbooks, you do not
receive the results you expect.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if one of the open windows is minimized.
WORKAROUND
Microsoft provides examples of Visual Basic for Applications procedures for
illustration only, without warranty either expressed or implied, including,
but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability and/or fitness
for a particular purpose. The Visual Basic procedures in this article are
provided 'as is' and Microsoft does not guarantee that they can be used in
all situations. While Microsoft support professionals can help explain the
functionality of a particular macro, they will not modify these examples to
provide added functionality, nor will they help you construct macros to
meet your specific needs. If you have limited programming experience, you
may want to consult one of the Microsoft Solution Providers. Solution
Providers offer a wide range of fee-based services, including creating
custom macros. For more information about Microsoft Solution Providers,
call Microsoft Customer Information Service at (800) 426-9400.
Ensure that no windows are minimized before you run the macro or modify the
macro code so that it sets all windows to the normal state before it tiles
the windows.
You can run the following example macro without error, however, the macro
does not tile windows if any open window in the program is minimized:
Sub test()
Application.Windows.Arrange ArrangeStyle:=xlArrangeStyleTiled
End Sub
To tile the windows, use the following macro:
Sub test()
For Each x in Workbooks
x.Activate
ActiveWindow.WindowState=xlNormal
Next x
Application.Windows.Arrange ArrangeStyle:=xlArrangeStyleTiled
End Sub
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 97 for
Windows.
