PPT97: Custom Toolbars Lost After Upgrading (166326)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows

This article was previously published under Q166326

SYMPTOMS

When you install the Microsoft PowerPoint 97 upgrade, any changes you made to the PowerPoint 7.0 toolbars do not appear in PowerPoint 97.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because of the new functionality of PowerPoint 97 toolbars and menus. For example, in PowerPoint 97, you can now create your own menus, something you cannot do in PowerPoint 7.0.

RESOLUTION

After you upgrade to PowerPoint 97, make any changes you want to the menus and toolbars.

MORE INFORMATION

For more information about customizing your toolbars, click the Office Assistant, type customize a toolbar, click Search, and then click to view "Add a custom menu to a toolbar."

NOTE: If the Assistant is hidden, click the Office Assistant button on the Standard toolbar. If Microsoft PowerPoint Help is not installed on your computer, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
