OL97: Customized Post Forms Do Not Display the Information Bar (166306)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook 97, when you post a message using a customized Post form, the Information Bar on the resulting message does not display changes to the Importance and Sensitivity fields.

RESOLUTION

Add the Importance and Sensitivity fields as controls on the customized Post form.

NOTE: This problem was fixed in Outlook 98.

MORE INFORMATION

When posting a message with the standard Post form, changes to the Importance and Sensitivity fields are displayed in the Information Bar across the top of the message. If the Post form has been modified, the Information Bar does not display.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. On the Compose menu, click "New Post in this folder."
  2. On the Tools menu, click Design Outlook Form.
  3. Make any modification to the form.
  4. On the Tools menu, click Design Outlook Form, to quit design mode.
  5. On the File menu, click Properties.
  6. Set Importance to High and Sensitivity to Confidential and click OK.
  7. Type a Subject and click Post.
Result: When you open the posted message, there is no Information Bar displaying the Importance and Sensitivity information.

Steps to Add the Importance and Sensitivity Fields as Controls

  1. On the Compose menu, click New Post in this folder.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Design Outlook Form.
  3. On the Design toolbar, click Edit Read Page.
  4. On the Field Chooser dialog, click and drag the Importance and Sensitivity fields to the form.
  5. On the Tools menu, click Design Outlook Form, to quit design mode.
  6. On the File menu, click Properties.
  7. Set Importance to High and Sensitivity to Confidential and click OK.
  8. Type a Subject and click Post.
Result: When you open the posted message, the Importance and Sensitivity data are displayed in their respective fields in the form.
