SUMMARY

This article describes how to register a chat room on a Microsoft Internet Chat Server using Microsoft Chat.

NOTE: In this article, the term "Microsoft Chat" refers to Comic Chat versions 1.0 and 1.1, and Microsoft Chat versions 2.0, 2.1 and 2.5.

MORE INFORMATION

To register a chat room on a Microsoft Internet Chat Server, send e-mail to "Comicadm@microsoft.com" (without quotation marks) with the name and password of the chat room. Note that you can register a chat room only on a Microsoft Internet Chat Server, not on an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) server.

Once your chat room has been registered, you can host the room by following these steps in Microsoft Chat:

  1. Connect to the Microsoft Internet Chat Server by following these steps:
    1. On the File menu, click New Connection.
    2. Click Show All Available Chat Rooms to select it.
    3. Click Cancel to connect to the server without entering a chat room.
  2. Type /join <room> <password>, where <room> is your registered chat room and <password> is the host password, in the text box below the chat panel area, and then press ENTER.
When you enter your registered chat room, your nickname is preceded by the "@" character to indicate that you are the host.
