Outline Expand/Collapse Keystrokes Fail in Word Viewer (166054)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word Viewer 97-2000, if you are in outline view and you press ALT+UNDERSCORE ( _ ) to collapse the view or ALT+PLUS SIGN (+) to expand the view, nothing happens.

CAUSE

These keystrokes are shown on the Outline View submenu; however, they do not work.

RESOLUTION

Use the commands on the Outline View submenu to expand and collapse an outline view.

To expand the view, follow these steps:
  1. Make sure that you are in outline view. (On the View menu, click Outline.)
  2. On the View menu, point to Outline, and click Expand.
To collapse the view, follow these steps:
  1. Make sure that you are in outline view. (On the View menu, click Outline.)
  2. On the View menu, point to Outline, and click Collapse.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
