OFF97: Web Find Fast Returns Inconsistent Number of Hits (166036)

When you use the Microsoft Office Web Find Fast indexer to return Web
search results to your Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) page, the number of
results that is returned is incorrect and inconsistent.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
- You enter the same search criteria in more than one search field
(for example, in both the Title field and the Words And Phrases field).
-and-
- The query you use matches ANY criteria fields.
This problem occurs when the Microsoft Office Web Find Fast encounters a
logical OR condition.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, eliminate the implied logical OR condition.
To do this, do either of the following:
- Do not specify criteria for more than one search field.
-or-
- Change the match criteria to ALL instead of ANY.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
