This article was previously published under Q165936 SYMPTOMS
After you upgrade to Internet Explorer 3.02 with Internet Mail and News,
clicking a link to send mail may not start the e-mail client you want.
CAUSE
Internet Explorer resets the mail and news readers to Microsoft Internet
Mail and News.
RESOLUTION
The Internet Mail and News upgrade included with Internet Explorer 3.02
resets the default mail reader to Internet Mail and News, but it does not
show that it has done so when you click Options on the View menu, click
the Programs tab, and then click Mail. This dialog box continues to show
the original e-mail and news reader.
To change the e-mail client, follow these steps:
- On the View menu, click Options.
- Click the Programs tab.
- In the Mail box, click Internet Mail, and then click Apply.
- In the same box, click the e-mail program you want to use, and
then click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer 3.02. We
are researching this problem and will post new information here in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
