NOTE: In this article, the term "Microsoft Chat" refers to both Comic Chat version 1.1 and Microsoft Chat versions 2.0 and 2.1.

SYMPTOMS

When you participate in a chat session using Microsoft Chat, the character that you select may be displayed incorrectly to other users of Microsoft Chat. This behavior may also occur with characters you create with the Avatar Editor tool.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using a character from the Additional Chat Characters Pack for Microsoft Chat, and the other Microsoft Chat users have not installed the Additional Chat Characters Pack.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft Chat users can download Additional Chat Characters Pack (Cchatpack.exe) from the following Microsoft Web site:

NOTE: Additional Chat Characters Pack is not compatible with Comic Chat version 1.0. To install Additional Chat Characters Pack, Comic Chat version 1.1 or Microsoft Chat version 2.x must be installed on your computer. If you are using a character from Additional Chat Characters Pack, your character is replaced by one that is included with Microsoft Chat for users who have not installed Additional Chat Characters Pack.

To select a character in Microsoft Chat, follow these steps:
  1. On the View menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Character tab, and then click the character you want to use.
  3. Click Apply, and then click OK.
