OL97: Free/busy Time Not Available for Some Attendees (165879)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 97

This article was previously published under Q165879

SUMMARY

If a profile contains multiple mail services, free/busy time in the Meeting Planner is only available from one of the services. The order in which recipient addresses are processed determines which users' free/busy times are available. However, if Microsoft Exchange Server is one of the installed services, it will take precedence over the other services.

MORE INFORMATION

NOTE: If Microsoft Exchange Server is one the services in a profile, free/busy times will only be available with users on the Microsoft Exchange Server.

Outlook allows free/busy time to be read from only one source. In a profile containing multiple mail services other than Microsoft Exchange Server, you can specify the service from which users' free/busy times are available. To specify which service is used, follow these steps:
  1. In Outlook, on the Tools Menu, click Services and click the Delivery tab.
  2. In the area labeled "Recipient addresses are processed by these information services in the following order:", move the service you want users' free/busy time to be available from to the top of the list, and Click OK.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Create a profile that contains both Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Mail.
  2. Start Outlook.
  3. On the Compose menu, click Plan a Meeting.
  4. Add some attendees from both Mail and Exchange.
Note that you see free/busy time for Exchange users only and not all meeting attendees.
