Cannot Enter Password-Protected Chat Room Using Comic Chat (165874)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to enter a chat room using Microsoft Comic Chat version 1.0 or 1.1, you may receive the following message:
Room <chat room> is protected by an entrance password. You may not enter.
When you click OK, you remain online but you are not permitted to enter the chat room.

CAUSE

Microsoft Comic Chat versions 1.0 and 1.1 do not support the Microsoft Chat 2.x entrance password feature.

RESOLUTION

Upgrade to Microsoft Chat version 2.x. To download Chat 2.x, please see the following Microsoft World Wide Web site:

With Microsoft Chat 2.x, the host can require that you provide an entrance password before you can enter the chat room. If you are using Microsoft Comic Chat 1.0 or 1.1 and you try to enter a chat room that is protected by an entrance password, you receive the error message described in the "Symptoms" section of this article.

If you are using Microsoft Chat 2.x and you try to enter an entrance- password-protected chat room, you are prompted with the following message:

Room <chat room> has an entrance password. You need to type this password below to enter.

If you type the correct entrance password, you are permitted to enter the chat room.
