SUMMARY

Microsoft Windows 98 and Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition printer drivers are only 16-bit.

MORE INFORMATION

In Windows 98 and in Windows Millennium Edition, 32-bit printer drivers do not exist. The spool subsystem in Windows 98 and in Windows Millennium Edition is 32-bit. However, parts of the Graphics Device Interface (GDI) are still 16-bit. GDI communicates directly with the printer driver and assumes that the printer driver entry points are 16-bit.

You must use a 16-bit compiler, such as MSVC 1.5, when you build a Windows 98 printer driver or a Windows Millennium Edition printer driver.
