Money 5.0 Cannot Configure Online Banking if XXX0000 Exists (165613)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Money 97

This article was previously published under Q165613

SYMPTOMS

In the International release of Money 5.0, if you cancel the setup of Online Services, you find the next time you try to setup Online Services, you are unable to continue with Setup.

CAUSE

This behavior is caused by an entry in the Windows Registry and a folder at the following location:

Program Files\Microsoft money\system\BDS\XXX00000

Money creates these two items when starting Online Services Setup. Choosing Cancel during the Online Setup wizard leaves these incomplete entries on the system.

RESOLUTION

To complete the Online Services Setup after canceling, you must delete the XXX000 folders. For information on how to delete the folders see the steps below:

Steps to Delete a Folder in Windows 95

  1. In My Computer or Windows Explorer, locate the folder you want to delete.

    Program Files\Microsoft money\system\BDS\XXX00000

  2. Click the folder to select it.
  3. On the File menu, click Delete.

MORE INFORMATION

During the Online Services Setup, Money creates an entry in the Windows Registry at:
   HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\BDS\1.0\Banks\XXX0000

The XXX00001 increases by 1 (XXX0001 XXX0002 etc.) each time you launch the Online Services Setup Wizard.

This registry key points to a folder in the Money folder, Money\System\BDS\XXX0000 which also increases by 1.
